Database Administator / Architect (m/f)

At our Swiss Technology Center we develop and manufacture advanced air cleaning systems for indoor spaces. Our customers are governmental agencies, schools, medical facilities, Fortune 500 companies, embassies and health conscious individuals in over 70 countries.


Your Tasks

  • Creating user profiles and ensuring system security by careful allocation of user permissions
  • Supervision of modifications to any existing database
  • Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on the specific requirements of client systems in the IoT area
  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data in a global setup
  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query times
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
  • Modifying the database structure using information provided by application developers
  • Definition, enforcement and documentation of database policies, procedures and standards
  • Regularly conduct tests and evaluations to ensure data security, data protection and integrity
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions if necessary
  • Creating reports by querying from database (as per need). These reports can be in the form of pre-formatted reports using the application front-end or custom-made ad hoc reports by the database administrator.
  • Travel to facilitate exchange and collaboration with international teams
  • Being able to suggest schemas and queries based on stakeholders feature requirements and communicate effectively with the development team for implementation.


 Our Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science (or a related field) or equivalent experience
  • Must be able to communicate in English both verbally and in written form (German communication skills of advantage)
  • At least five years of knowledge in database administration (advantage MongoDB, DynamoDB, and PostgreSQL as well as various scripting and query languages)
  • Advanced knowledge of database structure and designs in a global environment
  • Proficiency in MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, MySQL, MSSQL and Elasticsearch
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL
  • Familiarity with messages / streaming queues such as (but not limited to) AWS SQS, RabbitMQ, AWS Kinesis and Kafka
  • Familiarity with reporting tools
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance in a global team
  • Self-employed and solution-oriented working methods as well as a high problem-solving competence
  • Service-oriented and analytical personality
